Dawn Korman & Rhom

Dawn Korman is a local Chicago artist.  She teaches art through Columbia College working primarily with Chicago Public School students.  Her latest projects involve public art and community murals and her current work explores textiles and installable murals on Tyvek paper.  Her studio is at Mana Contemporary in Pilsen and she has found a new home on the southside in Bridgeport.

“For me, making art is close to prayer because I am noticing the miracles and profundities of nature. When my work is going well, I feel connected to and empowered by the universe. I am drawn to human beings and the curiosity of their nature and I’m interested in what motivates, informs and impassions us. When I am painting, I’m held captivated and elevated by the process of noticing, feeling, and problem solving.”

Her Partner Rhom assisting in the project  is a local Chicago artist and beat maker.  His work ranges from grafitti style abstract painting and sculpture to organically inspired line art.  As an urban muralist, Rhom is forever finding new outlets for self expression through graffiti, paintings on canvas, and making music.
