Marcy Kennedy Anderson was born in Alton, IL, a small town just north of St. Louis.  She moved around quite a bit as a child before settling on a farm in Hamel, IL, where she began painting to pass the time at the age of ten.  Her parents recognized her gift and immediately enrolled her in oil painting classes at a local art shop. In high school, she became involved in their Art Club, which allowed her to paint murals for the school and win awards at The Illinois Rembrandt Society Convention. After taking a break from her education to soak in the beautiful landscape of Charleston, SC, she returned to Illinois to continue her education at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and receive her BFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Marcy has been inspired by art of all genres, influenced by artists including Edward Hopper, Roberto Matta, Gerhard Richter, and Edgar Degas.  She enjoys painting landscapes from life with gouache, surreal and abstract images with oils, and drawing with charcoal.  Her exhibits can be seen throughout the galleries of Chicago.
